When I wake up nestled on Anders’s lap and in his arms a while later, he’s watching a vid with the volume low.

“Hungry?” he asks.

“Famished.”

We finish the platter of cheese, crackers, and fruit. I slide my shorts on and close my cardigan as he retrieves the platter of snacks and refills our glasses. We while away the Sunday afternoon talking about how we were recruited for our jobs, the worst things we’ve ever eaten, and our various trips to Earth. He wants to visit nature preserves on his next visit back.

There’s no mention of toys or replacement parts until we make plans to meet again later in the week.
